DICID Condemns Stabbing of imam of a mosque in New Jersey

15 Apr DICID Condemns Stabbing of imam of a mosque in New Jersey

Allah says in the Holy Qur’an:
“Who could be more wicked than someone who prevents God’s name from being mentioned in His places of worship, and seeks to bring about their ruin, while it behoves these men to enter them with fear in their hearts? There is disgrace in store for them in this world and a great punishment in the next.” Chapter 2, verse 114.

The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) strongly condemns the stabbing and serious injury of an imam of a mosque in New Jersey who was attacked early on the morning of Sunday, April 11, 2023. He was attacked by an unknown man who mingled with the worshippers, bearing in mind that this terrible act was committed by this criminal at the time of prayer and during the blessed month of Ramadan, which is a special spiritual sanctuary for Muslims in which they invoke with their prayers the teachings of the true Islamic religion and its tolerant spirit that prohibits hurting and attacking others, regardless of their religion, color or gender.

Religious leaders, people with common sense and just minds have agreed to respect the religious sanctuaries, including the clergy, who have a position that no one else has. This is because they are regarded by many people as the tongue of peace and the heart of love and giving, as they convey to us the teachings of the great God. It is a great tragedy to see someone stab the imam of a mosque who is known for his kindness, love and call for peace among the members of the society in which he lives.

DICID condemns in the strongest terms such despicable acts that dare to harm, attack or kill innocent people, especially believers in places of worship, regardless of the religion or affiliation of these attackers. These vicious practices are a clear violation of the principles of humanity and the values of all religions by their perpetrators, regardless of their goals or orientations, – which have established self-preservation as one of the necessities of religion and one of its main objectives, and the violation of which is one of the greatest sins.

DICID calls on countries and religious and humanitarian institutions to express their call for love and tolerance, to protect, respect and honor religious centers and religious leaders, to renounce division and confront intolerance and hatred.

DICID prays for a speedy recovery and safe return of this to his mosque in the same spirit and condition he was in before the attack, to continue calling the members of his community to live in safety and peace.
