Dr. Ibrahim Al- Naimi, Chairman of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue/DICID, met the Liberian Embassy Charge D’Affaire, Mr. Ali Sylla,   the 9 July 2017. The two parts  discussed on common interest issues, in the field of interfaith cooperation between the DICID and the related  organizations in Liberia.

Dr. Ibrahim has welcomed to the Liberian Embassy charge d’Affaire, and promised to go further to set up a fruitful cooperation with Liberian side, and invite the Charge d’Affaires to get involved in the DICID’s activities.
For his part, Dr. Ibrahim noted that there are many other activities undertaken by the Center, both locally and internationally.
On the local level, the Chairman pointed out that the Center regularly organizes courses for independent or private schools to train students and teachers in dialogue and communication skills with different religions and cultures. The Center also organizes educational lectures and round tables for resident communities. The DICID has been produced a number of publications such as the Adyan interfaith magazine, Newsletter Periodicals, brochures and posters related to the activities interfaith dialogue, as well as communitarian concern. In addition issues all available to researchers and visitors, as well as a rich library opened last year, which specializes in the study and comparison of religions and interreligious dialogue.
It is noteworthy that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue is one of the leading Arab centers for interfaith dialogue and is active in its field, in cooperation with all relevant institutions, at the local, regional and international levels.
The Liberian Charge d’Affaire has suggested to set up a cooperation between the DICID and the interfaith bodies in Liberia, to exchange experiences for the benefit of both sides, through the Liberian embassy in Doha.
He explained that the interfaith started, in Liberia, in 1990, after the civil war, with the creation of the national interreligious council, where different faiths are represented. This body has been organizing a number of interreligious meetings to discuss on different interfaith common interest questions.
The Republic of Liberia, is a country on the West African coast. It is bordered by Sierra Leone to its west, Guinea to its north and Ivory Coast to its east. It covers an area of 111,369 square kilometers 43,000 sq and has a population of 4,503,000 people. English is the official language and over 20 indigenous languages are spoken.
According to the 2008 National Census
– 85.5% of the population practices Christianity. A multitude of diverse Protestant confessions such as Lutheran, Baptist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, United Methodist, African Methodist Episcopal (AME).
– Muslims comprise 12.2% of the population, largely represented by the Mandingo and Vai ethnic groups.
