In the context of strengthening cooperation between the two institutes, the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) and the Katara Cultural Village signed a joint cooperation agreement on Sunday, 2 January, 2022. The agreement aims to achieve the common goals of both the Qatari institutions whose primary goal is to enrich culture at the local and international level making the agreement of great importance. The joint venture will enable exchanging experiences in many different fields, holding joint programs, and diversifying their service to the Qatari community, especially given that Qatar is home to many communities of different cultures that have coexisted in peace and harmony for decades.

Moreover, the areas of cooperation include cooperation to support the vision and objectives of each party, and to benefit from the appropriate venue that is the Katara Cultural Village that will also be the heart of hosting events, exhibitions, academic seminars and local, regional and international training courses on interfaith dialogue.

Concerning the importance of signing the agreement, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi, Chairman of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue said: “We, at the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, are pleased to sign this agreement with a distinguished Qatari institution that serves and devotes its work to spreading Qatari culture and raising awareness on the importance of international cultural exchange. The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue forms one of the many branches that make up this cultural tree. Its mission and primary goal is to promote a culture of dialogue between different religions, races and ethnicities, which intersect with the goals of the Katara Cultural Village. While our association and cooperation with Katara has been strong since the establishment of the center; the current agreement will have its impact, and further facilitate the achievement of our goals. Dr. Al Naimi added: “Dialogue, tolerance and coexistence are basic human values that give meaning to the human being. They are also among the foundations of the values of Qatari society and as such we seek to spread and strengthen them locally and internationally – this agreement will inevitably contribute to the exchange of experiences and capabilities, which will move our work to broader horizons.” He concluded by saying, “By reviewing the terms of the agreement, the amount of effort that went into preparing it, and the sincere intentions behind it, we ask God to bless our efforts and grant us success. It is important to emphasize that the agreement ultimately falls within the framework of human development, which is an essential part of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which we seek to support with the best of our capabilities in all our events and activities”.

It is worth noting that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue in the State of Qatar is an international center concerned with spreading the culture of interfaith dialogue, building bridges of cooperation and understanding between followers of religions, cultures and civilizations around the world, capacity building in the field of dialogue, working towards building a culture of peace and acceptance of the other, and facilitating the activation of religious values to address issues and problems of concern to humanity while also addressing the aspects of life that interact with religion, to build a society based on mutual respect and coexistence in peace and harmony, regardless of different religions, cultures and ethnicities.

On the other hand, the Katara Cultural Village is a cultural edifice that unites harmoniously the Qatari tradition, its heritage and civilization in the form of cultural institutions. To complete this Qatari cultural system, Katara seeks to raise awareness on the importance of each culture and civilization, as it hosts festivals, workshops, exhibitions and events at the global, regional and local levels, as well as its interest in arts, museums, literature and poetry, and international competitions such as horse racing, hunting, falcons and even chess competitions, as well as entertainment places for families and families; This has made Katara Cultural Village look into the future of a world in which people from all different cultural references could transcend their national geographical borders, and adopt common causes in support of humanity and common good.
