Visit of the first secretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan

 

 

 

On Monday, the 3rd of October, the 1st secretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Doha visited the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue.

 

The DICID staff gave a presentation of the activities of the Center, after which the first secretary gave a brief summary of a similar center in Kazakhstan, called the World and Traditional Religions Center.

         The Republic of Kazakhstan is a majority Muslim country, with 75% of the population composed of Muslims, 20% of Christians, and 5% of other religions.

         Every three years, Kazakhstan hosts an international meeting, the “World and Traditional Religious Leaders Conference,” which was attended by DICID in 2015, represented by Dr Ibrahim Al-Naimi, the Chairman. In return, representatives from Kazakhstan attended the 12th Doha Conference for Interfaith Dialogue held in Doha in 2016.

         Kazakhstan’s conference, initiated in 2003 by the Kazakh President, His Excellency Nursultan Nazarbayev, had more than 300 participants from all over the world in 2015. Its sessions focused on topics related to ethical, religious, and common values of peace shared by all religions and traditions.
