At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ibrahim, Chairman of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, welcomed the Ambassador and the accompanying delegation.

 

In response to the ambassador’s question on the conference, Dr Ibrahim said that the Doha conferences of interreligious dialogue, which have been held regularly since its launch in 2005, the latest of which was version 12 in 2016. It is also a regular annual forum for all concerned around the world, Through dialogues and analyzes of the academic academy, and from the perspective of religions, the parties to the interaction are composed of several groups, including clerics – whether Muslim, Christian or Jewish, with the participation of academics, researchers, or some politicians. Participants address a variety of issues that concern many aspects of the humanitarian community.

With regard to the timing of the thirteenth conference, Dr. Ibrahim expected to be held at the end of 2017, or the beginning of 2018.

 For his part, the French Ambassador lauded the pioneering role that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue has played since its inception and its diverse and targeted activities both for the benefit of the communities living in Qatar and for its fruitful contributions at the international level. He expressed the readiness of the French Embassy to establish cooperation with the Center on the field  of common interest.

Dr. Ibrahim noted that there are many other activities undertaken by the Center, both locally and internationally.

On the local level, the Center regularly organizes courses for independent or private schools to train students and teachers in dialogue and communication skills with different religions and cultures. The Center also organizes educational lectures and round tables for resident communities, as well as the Adyan interfaith magazine,   Newsletter Periodicals, brochures and posters related to the activities interfaith dialogue, as well as communitarian concern. In addition   issues all available to researchers and visitors, as well as a rich library opened last year, which specializes in the study and comparison of religions and interreligious dialogue.

On the external level, the Center organized seminars focused on the culture of dialogue and coexistence, which was held in Bosnia and Kosovo. The Center also plans to organize a similar seminar in Ukraine in October.

For his part, Dr. Ibrahim noted the supportive and inspirational role of the Doha International Prize for Interfaith Dialogue launched by the Center since 2013. The third edition coincided with the Twelfth Interfaith Dialogue Conference, 2016.

It is noteworthy that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue is one of the leading Arab centers for interfaith dialogue and is active in its field, in cooperation with all relevant institutions, at the local, regional and international levels.
