The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialoguecondemns the unfortunate events in the province of Myanmar that took place in Arakan province on Friday, August 25, 2017, which has once again turned its ugly face on humanity, in which dozens, even hundreds of innocent people were killed, their villages burnt and driven away from their homes.

The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogueaffirms its total rejection of this abhorrent conflict, which resulted in the brutal treatment of more than 1 million Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar which is a country of Buddhist majority, making this the human rights issue most violatingto the conscience of humanity. Till now the cycle of violence is witnessing a major escalation in a conflict raging in the Arakan province of Muslim minority. The main cause of the conflict is the barbaric attacks by the Myanmar security authorities through a major ethnic cleansing campaign against the Muslim minority, accompanied by serious human rights violations, which has made the United Nations describe the minority of the Muslim Rohingya in Myanmar as “the most persecuted religious minority in the world”. Furthermore, the Human Rights Watch describes these abuses as genocide.

The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue strongly condemns the racist causes of this conflict, in which hundreds of innocent lives are lost; they represent a clear violation of the rights of minorities, they go beyond international human rights laws, and transgress the principles of humanity and the values of all religions, which have established souls protection as one of the greatest necessities of religion and one of its greatest purposes and transgressing against souls is one of the greatest prohibitions.

This racism against the Rohingya religious minority in the territory of Myanmar is a main issueagainst whose consequences we have incessantly warned. We continue to warn the world and those who call for peace to protect these innocent people and all religious minorities in the world, whatever their religion, and to strongly and firmly confront terrorism even if isthe terrorismof some governments.
