Within the cultural common activity program between The DICID and the Qatar University, Dr. Mustapha Alhakim delivered a lecture on “The Role of Research Centers in Building Regulatory Norms and Mechanisms in promote Diversity Culture and Diversity Management … Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue as a Model”. Dr. Alhakim is a scientific coordinator at Ibn Gahzi Center for Research and Strategic studies in the kingdom of Morocco.

In his intervention the lecturer has focused on the following points:

-The Cultural Diversity and Differences
-The message and vision of Research and studies Centers
-How we can understand the cultural diversity and how to manage the difference through the regulatory norms?
-The DICID main achievements in that matter.
-And the role of Research and studies Center in strengthening the cultural diversity and Dialogue.

Dr. Alhakim stated, that as long as the human beings shares the common origin, it would be more easier to set up a human relationship between them, on the basis of mutual respect and the goodness, although different trends and beliefs, and divergent views and ideas.

Al Hakim also said: “We are in dire need of research institutions that deal with the culture of diversity and difference in this era, in particular in our times when many people are suffering scourge of extremism that often leads to reaction, resistance and hatred. This prevents the spirit of affection and innate communication among human beings, and discourage respect and acceptance of the other and respect for his belief, and fruitful cooperation.

He also added that this culture, based on diversity and pluralism, will contribute to fortifying the will of difference from confiscation, restriction and prevention, and guaranteeing the right of the other to be independent, unique in his opinion, distinct from others in thought, behavior or belief, far from unjust restrictions.

Dr. Mustafa al-Hakim pointed out that the war in the Prophets history was not an objective in itself , but a necessary action for a self-protection from aggression. He also said that human brotherhood has a specific origin, as established by the Islamic teachings, which stated the human beings affiliate to one father and one origin, Creation and reconciliation to one Creator, one Lord, and one God.

Speaking about the experience of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, the lecturer emphasized in the great impact and strategic role of Research and studies centers, think-thank institutes, in shaping the guiding policy, providing answers, proposing alternatives and diagnosing problems, for our societies and its decision makers.

He called for the need to be taken care to these Research Center, which should be surrounded by a legislative and legal framework that preserves its existence, strengthens its effectiveness, ensures its continuity, gives it a space for free practice and abstract consideration of bureaucratic and political constraints and economic and financial interests.
