A delegation from American Embassy in Doha,conducted by Daniel Cederberg, political Officer, have met Prof. Ibrahim Annaimi, The Chairman of DICID, on Tuesday 11th October 2016.
The meeting focused on the International Religious Freedom Report, issued by the US State Department on 10/8 / 2016, which dealt with the religious freedoms of non-Muslim communities in Qatar.

It was also discussed on what is stated in the report about the Qatari government’s efforts in this regard, to facilitate for non-Muslims to exercise their own religious rites in accordance with the local laws in that matter, and taking into consideration the necessity of preservation of public order and public morality.

For his part, Dr. Ibrahim, stressed that the religious freedom is guaranteed for the followers of all religions present in the country, and so they can practice their religious rituals easily and without any difficulties, and, we think, from our side, that the general situation of religious freedom in Qatar is satisfying. Qatar has officially allowed eight Christian denominations worship in the Religious Complex, located in Missaimir Area.

The DICID Chairman has also noted the presence of three departments which monitoring the human rights situation within the country, particularly workers situation, namely the National Commission for Human Rights, the Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Interior, and the Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all these departments are continuously providing fully support, for all, in cases of abuse of rights and freedoms.

For his part, Mr. Daniel Sidirberg praised the important role played by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue in spreading the culture of coexistence and dialogue in the community.

The meeting also dealt with the DICID’s activities, presented by the Chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naimi, and including the annual International Conference for Interfaith Dialogue, Roundtables which discuss issues related to the local Communities s in Qatar, the DICID’s interfaith studies magazine Regions/أديان , as well as training courses for school students. The aim is of these courses is to train, educate and aware dialogue skills, particularly the religious dialogue, by guiding ,build bridges of communication, understanding, in order live with the acceptance and respect of the differences within ideas cultures and religions as well. That is, in fact, the culture of tolerance and peace, that DICID is devoted to spread all over the world. magazine,/Religions أديان how to accept the other and build bridges of communication with him, and cultural forums organized by the Centre for various communities.

In regard to the relationship between the DICID and the US Embassy; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naimi has stressed the ongoing and fruitful cooperation , between the two side, and also Effective and constructive participation of the American side in the activities of the center
Finally Dr. Al-Naimi has also pointed to note in the International Religious Freedom Report: The report did not Aprz- Enbga- role as the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, and wished that this point has received adequate attention in the future.
