Ladies and Gentlemen
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Assalamu Alikum Wa Rahmatu Allah Wa Barakatuh “Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon you”
This is the greeting of Islam
Peace is the first word we Muslims say when we meet and greet others everyday and in all occasions.
I wish to thank the Honorable Mr. Man Hee Lee and his wonderful team of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light for giving me the opportunity to speak to this great crowd.
I come here with peace to the Peace Summit 2014.
There is no peace possible without dialogue.
To have peace among the nations and among the people, we need peace among religions. This can only be achieved through dialogue.
I come to you from Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue in Qatar, from the heart of the Arabian Peninsula.
Our religion Islam encourages us, Muslims, to open and maintain dialogue with others.
Almighty Allah, our Lord, revealed in his book, the Qur’an, many conversations and dialogue between his messengers with their people, believers and non-believers.
Allah, himself had in many occasions dialogue with the devil, Satan.
Our Prophet Muhammad, “Peace and prayers be upon him” has been sent to establish peace and bring mercy to the whole mankind: ” وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ ” – “We sent thee not save as a mercy for all peoples (worlds)” (Qur’an, 21:107) as stated in the Qur’an.
And He did just that.
Allah said to the Prophet Muhammad in the Qur’an: ” وَإِن جَنَحُوا لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَهَا ” – “And if they (enemy) incline to peace, incline thou also to it” (Qur’an, 8:61).
Our Islamic history had many great examples of the importance of peace building among people and nations.
We, who work in Interfaith should work as peace builders, peace promoters, peace mediators and peace facilitators.
“People of the middle way as you might call them.” Upright in character with passionate, patience, and loving kindness.
Let us capture the moment and capitalize on this great opportunity to have a powerful world-wide peace movement initiated by the honourable leader Mr. Man Hee Lee, and starting here from this great city of Seoul to the world.
Movement that should include all religions, cultures, nations and people from all over the world to build a peace that last forever, peace that all of us, adults, children, men and women, old and young feel it, experience it and Enjoy it.
