The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada is hosting its 7th Annual Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation conference on Sunday.

Also, Eid E Milad un Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, will also be celebrated on that day.

“This is an event where we come together as Calgarians and Canadians to share our diversity and faiths,” said Imam Syed Soharwardy, the founder of Islamic Supreme Council of Canada.

The conference is being held Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness, 7555 Falconridge Blvd. N.E.

Soharwardy said the Council holds several interfaith dialogue and cooperation conferences across Canada on an annual basis.

In Calgary, ISCC holds two interfaith programs, the first is near Christmas when Christian and Muslim congregations meet and share a meal. The Imam and the Pastor explain their beliefs and the traditions about the celebrations of the birth of Jesus Christ, explained Soharwardy.

The second conference is held to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad and is attended by the religious leaders and the followers of Christian, Jewish, Sikh, Bhai, Hindu, Buddhist faiths and even atheists, said Soharwardy, who travels across the country to participate in the interfaith dialogues.

He is a member of three interfaith groups in Calgary where he regularly participates in discussions to promote better understanding of faith communities and help in resolving issues and misunderstandings.
