Introduced the principle of dialogue between the followers of divinely inspired religions in Qatar with
the rst conference for interfaith dialogue in 2003
under directive of His Highness Emir the Father,
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Thereafter were
held the annual conference in the following years
between the followers of the three monotheistic
religions, Islam, Christianity and Judaism. In the
month of May 2007 the Doha International Center
for Interfaith Dialogue was o cially inaugurated
and the formation of the board of directors of the
center, as well as a global advisory council of
religious scholars in the three monotheistic
religions was organized to assist in planning and
communication with the corresponding institutions
around the world.

In the month of June 2010 the Emiri Decree No.
(20) of 2010, approved the establishment of the
Doha International Center for Interfaith
Dialogue, which aims to support and promote
the culture of dialogue between religions, and
peaceful coexistence among adherents of
religions, and the activation of religious values to
address the problems and issues of concern to
humanity.

The decision to establish the center was met
with a great welcome from scholars, researchers
and academics interested in dialogue and cooperation
between religions, civilizations and
cultures of di erent issues, and scholars hailed
this decision, arguing that the establishment of
the center will contribute to the e orts to build
bridges of cooperation and understanding
between the followers of religions and di erent
civilizations and cultures around the world,
which would contribute to an atmosphere of
peace and justice, and alleviate misunderstanding
because of the ignorance of di erent parties
in con ict, and the entry of extremists from both
sides to ignite hatred between peoples.
The main role of the center is considered as
spreading the culture and acceptance of others
and peaceful coexistence among the followers of
religions through dialogue.

Message
The Center seeks for constructive dialogue among
followers of religions in order to better understand
the principles of religious teachings to be
harnessed to the service of humanity, based on
mutual respect and recognition of di erences, in
collaboration with individuals and relevant institutions.

Vision
To be a role model to achieve peaceful coexistence
among followers of religions and global reference
in the eld of interfaith dialogue.

Goals
Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue
aims to
– To be a forum for the promotion of a culture of
peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others
– Activation of religious values to address the
problems and issues of concern to human
– Expand the content of the dialogue to include
aspects of life interacting with religion
– Expand the dialogue to include researchers,
academics and interested in the relationship
between religious values and life issues
– To house expertise providing the scholarly,
educational and training information in their
respective fields
